When I first began dating my wife, I noticed that she was very particular about how she ate. She would always pick at her food in front of company just so that she could eat in private. I felt like she was embarrassed by the way she ate, so I made a joke about it. The next time I saw her, I said, “You know, you’re the only girl I know who eats like that.” To which she replied, “Yes, you don’t think most girls eat like this?” (Her tone indicated that she was surprised.) She went on to tell me that most girls eat quickly and then they go to sleep to lose weight or they go out to dinner with friends. She admitted that she has never seen anyone else do it.
